All the National Parks of Tanzania have Public campsites which provide basic facilities such as toilets and showers. As the camps are inside the parks they are a great way to experience the sights and sounds of the African bush, particularly at night. It is not uncommon for the animals to wander through the camps, so common sense must prevail.

Those choosing this option will be provided with tents and mattresses. Your cook will provide three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) including tea and coffee, mineral water is also provided. Extra beverages such as alcohol and soda are not normally included but if requested your driver should be able to obtain for you. There are also campsites located outside the parks which can offer more facilities.

Tents are erected when you arrive and dismantled when you leave, so timings are informal.

Budget camping is the most affordable way to visit the National Parks and is popular for groups and do not require advanced booking.

For those with a bigger budget, tented camps generally consist of larger, semi permanent tents. Each tent provides either a double bed or two singles or triple as well as bathroom facilities attached. There is a fully equipped dining area and bar. Tented camps offer tranquillity as well as more comfortable facilities. The quality and varied menus will also enhance your experience. Tented camps are also strategically located to take advantage of the wild animals seasonal movements. These camps offer the immersive bush experience with a little extra comfort.

These camps must be booked in advance.

Each Park has a number of permanent lodges within it’s boundaries. These lodges offer all the facilities expected of star rated hotels, including swimming pools, internet connections, spa or massage and gift shops.

Many lodges will stage cultural entertainment during the evenings with traditional dancers and acrobatic groups performing.

From these lodges it is possible to book extra activities or excursions such as hot air balloon flights.

Most of the lodges are located to take advantage of stunning views of the surrounding areas and provide more options for relaxing between game drives.

Like tented camps the lodges must be booked well in advance.
